Problem/Motivation
The migrate initiative succeeded in stabilizing Drupal 6 and Drupal 7 to Drupal 8. The last remaining parts were finalized in #2966856: Hide and disable Drupal Migrate Multilingual. It "officially" started in October 10, 2013 at BADCamp per https://groups.drupal.org/imp?page=4. In the 6+ years of its life, the initiative went through several maintainers and many hundreds of contributors and 2050 issues.
