Add 'Date last Edited' option to 'Display Settings' option for a content type

A checkbox for 'Display author and date information' is in Administration >> Structure >> Content types >> Edit tab, (admin/structure/types/manage/page), in the 'Display Settings' vertical tab.
There are a couple of issues with this:

1. Just one of these pieces of information may be wished to be displayed. For example, I usually do not want the author info display, while I do want the date info displayed.
2. An important date is the last date edited. Viewers often look for this to see if the page is up-to-date or not.

Proposal: place 3 checkboxes instead of 1, so that any combination of the 3 pieces of information may displayed:

1. Date published
2. Date last edited
3. Author
