Adding 'tag field' to 'taxonomy term' view

I am fairly new to Drupal, about 1 month of experience so far.
Live site, but empty of content, an amateur to say the least.
Trying to sort out the site format before spending time on writing.

I am running the module 'Taxonomy Menu', though whether enabled or disabled the issue I raise here is the same, so it is of little significance.

The issue I am having is with the 'taxonomy term' view, and specifically that one cannot attribute tags to another (in this case) child term which would then allow the child to show up in the parent 'taxonomy term' view in much the same way as an article does when various tags are attributed to it.

Here is a brief example to clarify the issue...

I have the following tag hierarchy:

  • Cooking
    • Cooking Methods
      • Deep Frying
      • Roasting
    • Food Types
      • Entrées
      • Mains
    • Food Origins
      • Chinese
      • Italian

I write an article named 'Honey Chilli Chicken'.
To this article I attribute the tags 'Cooking', 'Deep Frying', 'Mains' and 'Chinese'.
This all works fine and the article shows up in the in each of the four taxonomy term views.

I would then like to go to, let's say, 'Deep Frying' and 'Roasting' and attribute the tag 'Cooking Methods'. Then upon visiting the 'Cooking Methods' taxonomy term view 'Deep Frying' and 'Roasting' would show up as links in much the same way the 'Honey Chilli Chicken' article shows up in the various relevant taxonomy term views. But this isn't possible as you cannot add the tag field to the taxonomy term view.

There is a module which seems as though it would solve such an issue, but unfortunately it is only available for Drupal version 6, whilst I am running version 7:

Term Fields
https://drupal.org/project/term_fields

If the taxonomy term view showed up in content types you could simply add the tag field in much the same way you would with book or article pages.

If anyone knows of, or can think up, a work around or something it would be much appreciated.
Also, is it possible to run a Drupal version 6 module in version 7?
