Convert core taxonomy to cck taxonomy field before upgrade

Hi

Does it be interesting to convert core taxonomy to cck taxonomy field before upgrading to D7 ? because as core taxonomy will be converted to fields into D7, sometimes i get duplicate field.this happen when a cck taxonomy field and a core vocabulary are used in the same content type.

What is the right way to upgrade without issues like that ?
