Problem/Motivation
It would be nice to have the navbar to default to the left side (vertical) vs the top (horizontal). The reason is that a lot of people don't want to make multiple page requests to get somewhere, especially on mobile. The top/horizontal layout doesn't let you drill down in the menu but the left/vertical does.
